Torre dei Contini: a fairytale place in the heart of Monferrato
Canelli’s ancient ‘Torre dei Contini’ once marked the town’s boundaries. It is located in a panoramic spot in the hamlet of Santa Libera. The tower can be freely accessed via a beautiful little road surrounded by vineyards. From the tower you can enjoy an enchanting 360-degree panorama of vineyards (mainly Moscato) with the Alps in the background on one side and the Ligurian Apennines on the other. A footpath has been created with indicative signs for reaching the tower from different points on the hill. The site has been cleared, the shrubs removed and the grass cut in the surrounding areas so that the area can be used for picnics with a view of Piedmont’s wine-growing landscapes: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato UNESCO heritage sites
