Castello di Castelnuovo Calcea
Located in the beautiful central area of the village, all that remains today of the turreted castle of medieval origin are the bastions and the watchtower. Erected in 1154 at the behest of the Marquises of Incisa, it was destroyed by the Savoyards in 1634, but was rebuilt several times as it suffered numerous destructions during the wars that bloodied Monferrato in the following two centuries. The last major restoration took place in the 17th century, when the towers and the dongione were rebuilt and the part to the west that had been damaged by a serious fire was repaired. Nowadays it is a charming place from which you have a beautiful views on the surrounding landscape.
